WHAT ABOUT SKATES?
The boot should provide a snug fit. If the boot is too big, it will not provide the necessary support. If the boot is too small, OUCH. You will experience great discomfort. Proper fit is essential to success in skating. The SLC Sports Complex provides rental skates to help acquaint you with figure or hockey skates. Rental fee is $1.50 per class.
How long are the classes?
The SLC Sports Complex offers a 6-week semester. Classes are 1/2 hour long. The 6- week class cost is $50.00 At the end of each 6-week semester, skaters are tested on the skills they have learned. If you pass the test you can register for the next Basic Skills level. If you fail the test, we suggest taking the same skill level over. The next level will begin after a one-week break. There are 8 Basic Skills classes. These classes can provide you with enough information to be able to recreationally skate with ease. You can also advance on to Freestyle 1-6. These classes provide an advanced format to introduce a more difficult skill level.
What happens if I miss a class?
There are no make-up classes for those that are missed.
Who teaches the classes?
Qualified instructors teach all Learn To Skate classes. All of our instructors are registered with the USFS and have skated in regional and national competitions. Occasionally you will have a substitute teacher. We apologize for this inconvenience. All substitute teachers are qualified instructors.
