Dogs are allowed at all Salt Lake County parks provided they are on a leash which is controlled by the owner.
County Parks maintains the following off-leash areas:
- Millrace Park has an enclosed area. The City of Taylorsville manages the park and has rules for its use.
- The West Jordan dog park was opened in the Fall of 2008.
The County has an agreement with the U.S Forest Service's Mill Creek Canyon. Dogs are allowed up this canyon every day provided they are on a leash which is controlled by the owner. On odd-numbered days, dogs may be off-leash on the canyon trails. During the winter season at the Big Water yurt, a maximum of two dogs are allowed in the yurt during the months of January and March.
