Purpose: This program is designed to be a recreational soccer league for youth, Pre K through 6th (with some seasons offering a traveling 7th-9th grade league). The purpose of this program is to give children the opportunity to learn soccer skills. The main emphasis is focused on fun, fair play, skill development and teamwork.
-
Teams: Teams will be organized by the child’s age group. We will try to accommodate coaches’ and parents’ requests to have their children playing on the same team as their friend, but we do not want to overload coaches and teams. There is no guarantee your child will be on the team requested. Outdoor soccer is a recreational league and there will be no competitive teams allowed. Teams may be combined due to the number of registration. All participants will receive jersey, shorts, and socks. Soccer Cleats and Shin Guards are recommended but not required.
-
Organization: Outdoor Soccer games are played at the Oquirrh Park Soccer Fields (approx. 5800 So. 4800 W.) The first day is designated as an Organization Day where your child will meet their teammates and coach. Please plan on attending, as the coaches will have all the schedules, tickets, run a practice and hand out uniforms.
-
Game Day: Most seasons will have two games each week - one on a weeknight and one on Saturday. Dates and times of the games are not guaranteed and are subject to change. Coaches will be notified of any game changes. Coaches will need to arrive fifteen minutes prior to game time.
-
Game times will vary depending on total teams registered for the program and are subject to change.
-
Practices: Practices will be held at the coaches’ discretion. Equipment will be available to coaches for use. The Coaches are responsible for arranging practices for their teams.
-
Coaches: Volunteer coaches are the most important asset to our Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation Programs. Parents we need you! If you could donate a couple of hours each week, please sign up to be the coach or assistant coach of your child’s team. There is no experience needed, we just ask you to encourage fair play, team work and fun.
