Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation developed as a result of civic minded citizens who wanted to coordinate recreation activities throughout the County and manage the rapid growth of the programs for the benefit of county citizens.As a result Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation was formed and came into existence on May 11, 1946. Ten days later the organization dedicated its first park in East Millcreek, today over 50 years later -- 70 plus parks, and over 20 recreation facilities we are still "Improving Lives Through People, Parks and Play."

The newly approved Plus One Pass is designed for Salt Lake County Residents with a permanent disability to provide entrance of one assistant for free to Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation Facilities when accompanied by the pass holder.   JL Sorenson Recreation Center Construction Underway

 

Salt Lake County has broken ground for the new 110,000 Invitesquare foot JL Sorenson Recreation Center in Herriman. The new center will serve the southwest portion of Salt Lake County providing new recreation oportunities for residents in the cities of Bluffdale, Herriman and Riverton.
