New Pool Regulations and Swim Diaper Policy

The Utah Health Dept. has approved new pool rules to try to prevent the spread of crypto this summer.  The major change pertains to the use of swim diapers.  All children 2 and under must wear two layers of swim diapers, a disposable with a reusable on over it.  The under layer must be a disposable swim diaper, which we will provide to you when you pay for a day pass.  Members can bring their own, or purchase one at the front desk.  The top layer must be a reusable diaper, which can be purchased at our front desk.  We offer both plastic pants and a reusable 2 layer swim diaper.  The plastic pants are $1.50 and the reusable swim diaper is $4.50.

To prevent against becoming infected with crypto follow these tips:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water after using the toilet, changing a diaper, and before eating or preparing food.
  • Do not swim if you have diarrhea and wait 2-weeks after the diarrhea has stopped before swimming.
  • When swimming, do not swallow the water and avoid getting the water in your mouth.
  • Take a shower with soap and water, before swimming.
  • Make sure and clean your bottom. The small amounts of fecal material left on your bottom after using the toilet will wash off in the pool water if not washed off before getting into the pool.
  • Take frequent bathroom breaks while swimming and make sure small children do the same.
  • Change diapers in the bathroom, and not at the pool side.
  • After changing a diaper, wash your hands and your child’s bottom thoroughly with soap and water.
  • If you do have a fecal accident in the pool – report it immediately.
If you have any questions about cryptosporisosis that isn’t answered here or you would just like more information on how to prevent it, contact your local health department.  Also, you can click on the following link to get to the health dept page on crypto.  http://www.slvhealth.org/crypto/index.html

  Walk, Wag, and Swim

Walk, Wag, and Swim

On Saturday Sept. 6th Draper Pool will go to the dogs again.  On that day we will be holding our 4th annual Walk, Wag, and Swim to benefit No More Homless Pets.  It is a fun day with a short group walk that ends inside the pool area where the dogs can all be let off their leash to swim (don't worry, the pool is closed for the season for people.)  Last year we raised over $1600 for No More Homelss Pets, and look forward to raising even more this year.  Click here for more information on registration and fees.
